Notes
1. An article in the Hexham Courant states that there was a rumour that the seats had been placed by someone who wished to remain anonymous, and said that this was incorrect. The money had been raised thus : the military hospital at Dilston had appealed publicly for beds, some of which had been supplied by Corbridge. When no longer required, the beds were returned in such good condition that it was possible to sell them. The money thus raised was spent on the seats, in memory of those who died in the 1914-18 war.
2. Tony Harding has taken photos of a seat which he speculates might be the ones, but we would like confirmation.
